The Intermountain Forest Association and Northwest Management, Inc. are sponsoring a Foresters Forum to be held on Thursday, February 21st at Templins Resort in Post Falls, Idaho. The one-day Forum is dedicated to providing Inland Northwest professional foresters an opportunity to focus on their profession, learn new ideas, techniques and technologies, and share information. The Foresters Forum is organized as a series of breakout sessions which cover a wide variety of relevant forestry topics in five areas: Water Quality Law and Best Management Practices; Silviculture; Forest Applications; Agency and Tribal Forestry; and Forest Certification. We have lined up some top-notch speakers and provided a flexible format allowing you to choose what interests you and get the most out of the program. Our hope is to attract professional foresters from agencies, Tribes, academia, and the private sector. With that in mind, we have made sure there are sufficient breaks between sessions and plenty of coffee on hand so you can get acquainted, trade information, ideas, or maybe even logs if you’ve got them. Neil Sampson, President of the Sampson Group, Inc. (and often thought of as “America’s Forester”), will provide the keynote speech during lunch. And we’ve scheduled a dinner and some great entertainment to end the day. An optional second day of the Foresters Forum will be held on Friday, February 22nd specifically for those interested in the Sustainable Forestry Initiative™. This training will provide a step-by-step review of critical SFI program requirements and hands-on training for those interested in knowing details about implementing the SFI program and preparing for third party audits. Carlton Owen, Executive Director of the SFI Sustainable Forestry Board, will help lead this training. You won’t want to miss this event! An informational brochure is enclosed along with a detailed session description. The registration form is included in the brochure. When registering, please don’t forget to check where indicated the sessions you plan to attend, fill in your name and address information on the back of the brochure, tear it off and mail the registration form to Stephanie West at the Intermountain Forest Association before February 9th. Or if you prefer, you may register online at www.consulting-foresters.com/foresterforum/. If you register online, you will need to mail your payment to the IFA office separately. We look forward to seeing you in February!
